Poesy Illustrations

A mosaic I put together of some of the illustrations I created for Victoria Buckley Jewellery as displays for her poetic poesy rings and gorgeous precious jewellery - see her Pocket full of Poesy Etsy shop for more.

I'm working on an online web-portfolio specifically to present my illustrative work, both book illustration and commercial product and fashion illustration. I think the first preview (with a fair few "coming soon" pages) should be able to go live fairly soon!

Jewellery Illustrations

I created this little illustration to feature alonside one of Victoria Buckley's delightful sterling silver pendants. The theme for this little Bunny is in celebration of The Year of the Rabbit, 2011!

And here is one of my earlier illustrations for her, "Falling Alice", for more of an Alice in Wonderland theme...

The White Russian Collection

At the glamarous boutique I work for, we recently launched Victoria Buckley's latest collection, "the White Russians"

Does our muse look familiar? :-) For anyone who is not yet aware of my doll-insanity, the latest leading lady for Victoria Buckley Jewellery is a porcelain doll I commissioned from Enchanted Doll.

Inspired by the exquisite lost world of the Russian Aristocracy, the White Russian collection brings to life the mythical dreams of Tatiana,
a fleeing sylph entrusted with the treasures of the white Russians.
The beautiful porcelain doll Tatiana, created by world-renowned master crafters Enchanted Doll, lives surrounded... by the elegance and refinement of the immortal era.

This fairyland collection is crafted from 18ct white and rose gold,
diamonds and richly coloured gems.
Rare high-grade white Russian diamonds from the Siberian Tundra crystallise the refinement and elegance of the epoch. The perfection of these icy white gems is brought out by the inspired Master Russian diamond cutters who obsess over unlocking the fire within.

The Strand Arcade certainly tizzies itself up for the night, I love it.

Meet the Designers, 2010
Victoria Buckley's luxurious jewellery boutique has participated in a couple of ravishingly fancy soiree's recently, including the 2010 meet the designer's evening.
The whole Strand glams up and beautiful creatures flit about. At the boutique we got to showcase some very rare and expensive Diamonds and Pearl Strands.

I also had the extreme luck of getting to see my favourite Australian Children's Book illustrator, Shaun Tan, in person. He started and finished a drawing Live on the night, that was auctioned off at the end to help raise funds for the ILP (Indigenous Literary Project). Shaun Tan's world is one that is so full of magic and imagination, it has been an endless source of inspiration since I first discovered his work.

No Fixed Address.
This is the title of High Tea with Mrs Woo's latest collection, and it fills me with chills, and nostalgia for places I have never been.
I have been a great fan of the work of these three sisters ever since they first opened up their delightful boutique right next to where I live. Esepcially recently when my own fixed address is fading away, hearing the girls talk on the night about what inspired this collection was really moving. Enjoy a few snapshots of their current season (and visit their incredible website, too!!)

High Tea with Mrs Woo

No fixed address is the beginning of another new adventure with High Tea with Mrs Woo. Seeking escape into unkown landscapes, this collection of garments and objects tells tales of endless voyages to far away places.

Soaring high into the sky, light layers of cotton gauze in oversized tops and angled skirts fold and billow in the breeze. Translucent textures and embroidered patterns cast across dresses and trousers like passing clouds on a sunny day. Like the wings of a plane, the pleats and folds of collared wrap tops and toggled jackets, form and take shape, awaiting flight.


With a Nancy-bird’s eye view of the gathering greenery below, home seems like a long and distant memory. Home is now wherever she is, wherever she goes.

All dolled up and ready for....work

It's beginning to look a little bit like a doll museum at work. And I like it :-D

Bramble, the doll made for me by Crystal A Suh has come to the boutique. I now get to gaze at her lounging in the engagement ring cabinet all day long. And she adores it, her chin turned up ever so proud!

Odette, who used to be in the front window for years, has had to go back stage,  as there can only be one Leading Lady....

Victoria, Rachel and I spent an entire day stripping the front displays bare, cleaning the glass, and putting up the new posters. Most excitingly, Ophelia has made her debut. A beautiful Enchanted Doll made by artist Marina Bychkova (I know I am still yet to introduce my own!) Here she is, the new leading lady of Victoria Buckley Jewellery!

Curiouser and curiouser...

I couldn't imagine how my creativity would suffer if I worked full-time in a place that did not inspire me, or make me happy.
So even though I haven't had much time to pursue my personal art in the recent weeks, I have been able to put my drawings to good use at the boutique.

Victoria recently designed this Alice inspired ring, and since I've been put in charge of wrangling her etsy page, I created a few little "background" drawings.
(It's only taken me about 3 months to finally be able to take a semi-decent photograph though!!)
