November Auction

It's that time again! The Femme Thou Art Collective is hosting it's monthly original art auction again, where you have a week-long chance at bidding on some gorgeous artworks by a small group of talented female artists. Each month a given theme is reflected upon by the group in their own style - this month it was birthstone's, and the resulting artworks will be compiled into a 2014 calendar available to purchase later.

I was paired with June - Pearl. I was instantly inspired by recollections of swimming in the sea and snorkelling trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Turkey, as well as the beautiful natural South Sea pearls I used to admire at Victoria Buckley Jewellery.

The original watercolour is available to bid on till the 25th of November

Illustrated Journal

I am very happy to announce the release of a small "journal" printed with my illustrations - perfect for keeping a diary, notes, stories, romantic musings, lists, daydreams.

77 Pages, 15 x 23 cm (6 x 9 inches)

Soft cover printed in full glossy colour, bearing my "Lily Rose" illustration on the front, and "Summer went the way of spring" on the reverse.

A brief bio on the inside, each notebook will come personally signed. Open edition.

Right pages contain black and white reproductions of illustrations from my "of lace and moss" series. Left pages printed with dotted lines for notes, diary, stories, romantic musings, journal keeping.

Scribbles and Sketchbooks

As well as the framed paintings exhibited at my solo show, I have 5 glass display cabinets showcasing sketches, works in progress, quotes that inspired me, and paraphernalia related to my work practice.

 

I felt it was important to show that the immaculately detailed work on the walls all start off as messy scribbles in my sketchbooks, and quick studies jotted on scraps of paper.

And most importantly my palette - a mere 7 blobs of colour are the starting point for me. Devotion, patience and a great deal of time complete the recipe! There it is, up in the corner. So simple, no?

My first Solo Exhibition

Your very first Solo Exhibition marks a very important point in an artist's career. The surrounds of  my first solo exhibition also held additional meaning for me - hosted in the country where my mother was raised, having come here one year ago to try the life of a full-time artist.

 

The vernissage was a huge success. Smiling faces of people I have met here - supporting me on the other side of the world, bouquets of orchids, champagne, chocolate and strawberries. 

 

It was a night filled with smiles, laughter and clinking glasses. The best - and most important - night of my life so far!

Feather Ribs

The final painting to fill the walls for my first Solo Exhibition, opening this May at the Eszterház Palace in Győr. No new paintings will be showcased for a while, as I am heading to Paris for a few weeks, and return to Hungary right before my show is to open. Take care, until then!

Fragile Glimpse

Tomorrow I take all my work to the Eszterház Palace in Győr to begin curating my Solo Exhibition. It's still a month away but I might be heading to Paris for a few weeks (insert incredible excitement) so we're trying to get as much preparation done this week as possible. Hopefully in a few days I can reveal the finished invite/flier!

Another milk-eyed seer. I’ve barely finalized the title for my upcoming Solo Show revolving around Hungarian folktales, but I’m already contemplating a title for this next body of work, to avoid always calling it “my new series”, or something else vaguely similar.

Here taped to the wall are my brainstormed ideas… I've managed to narrow it down to the closest 50...

Art Theft - Postcard heist

I'm not talking someone copying your drawing and calling it their own, or even literally copy pasting on the internet... I'm talking literally...

One of my beautiful models, who also happens to be a very dear friend of mine, was celebrating her birthday earlier this January.  As a little present for her I bundled up a couple of my postcards, particularly the ones featuring illustrations she had posed for, and those of our mutual friends.

She is an exquisitely beautiful girl, and a very sweet soul.

 

A few minutes ago, she rang me in sadness, to tell me her neighbour brought over the shredded remains of the envelope and the letter I had written to her, wishing her a very Happy Brithday. He had found them tossed on his front lawn, the postcards were however, gone.

To the theif who decided that $3.50 is too much to spend on my art, but none the less admired it enough to steal it....  thanks for liking my work, but a real shame you were low enough to rifle through someone elses mail and steal it.
